Could Jamie Vardy’s impending exit from Leicester City spark a domino effect at the club this summer?

Leicester City s outstanding performers: Jamie Vardy, N Kolo Kante, Riyad Mahrez.

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy looks on course on to join Arsenal this summer in a deal worth around £29M, and there are growing fears his sale could spark a domino effect with a number of other coveted players.

City manager Claudio Ranieri had been desperate to retain the key players from last season’s shock Premier League title triumph, but might struggle to convince Vardy’s teammates to stay if their talisman has sought greener pastures.

Players non-committal due to Leicester’s glass ceiling

France seeking midfield cohesion

France midfielder Yohan Cabaye believes he and his team-mates can prove head coach Laurent Blanc wrong when Euro 2012 gets underway.

Blanc has said he feels there is a lack of experience in the French midfield as the countdown continues to the head coach naming his 23-man squad for the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine.

Cabaye, who has played 10 times for his country, believes that with more games the midfield will continue to grow.

We, the midfielders, we work hard, we gain experience after every game we play with the national team, Cabaye said.

That s the only way to get this experience playing the games and the competitions.

There is no way you can say you have experience if you are not on the pitch.

France were elimin…

Solskjaer battles back from the brink to leave City´s title defence in ruins

As the Christmas season unofficially began on December 1, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked anything but merry.

Manchester United had been held to a 2-2 draw at home by promoted Aston Villa and the Red Devils performance was utterly rancid for much of the game. Solskjaer appeared helpless at full-time.

Ahead of a particularly bleak run of mid-winter fixtures, reports suggested Solskjaer could join Santa in expecting to be burdened with the sack for Christmas. Two games to save his job, some said, with Mauricio Pochettino looming large.

Those two matches; Jose Mourinho s Tottenham and Manchester City in the derby – it wasn t the sleigh bells that were ringing.

Some might have been content with two points, yet they ve managed to take six and left City s ti…

I wanted to hug him – Pioli overcome with joy after Mihajlovic´s return to the bench

Milan coach Stefano Pioli said he was so overcome with emotion following Sinisa Mihajlovic s return to the Bologna bench on Sunday that he just wanted to hug his opposite number.

Mihajlovic was back on the touchline for the first time since a bone marrow transplant last month, having been diagnosed with leukaemia earlier in the year.

Bologna were unable to make Mihajlovic s return a victorious one, however, as Milan claimed a slender 3-2 win despite Nicola Sansone s late penalty leading to a tense finish.

But Pioli spoke with more enthusiasm about Mihajlovic than he did Milan s performance.

It was a real pleasure to see him, Pioli told Sky Sport Italia. I wanted to hug him, but he said it was better not to [due to his condition]. But it was still excitin…

Kwadwo Asamoah believes Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez would be a good signing for Juventus.

Kwadwo Asamoah believes Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez would be a good signing for Juventus.

The Chile international has struggled for consistency since joining the Catalans from Udinese in 2011, and was heavily linked with a move to Juve in the winter transfer window.

Juve are allegedly still interested in the 24-year-old, and Asamoah said he would welcome his former Udinese team-mate with open arms should he move to the reigning Serie A champions.

Alexis is a player with great qualities. He is incredibly quick, Asamoah told Corriere dello Sport.

He could give us a helping hand if he were to make the move to Juventus.

Klose, Ribery back as Bayern go through

Germany striker Miroslav Klose proved last week s leg injury is behind him as defending German Cup holders Bayern Munich beat 2007 champions Nuremberg 2-0 in Wednesday night s second round tie.

Klose, the top scorer at the 2006 World Cup, slammed home his shot on seven minutes to show he has recovered from the bruised knee he suffered in his side s 1-0 Champions League win at Steaua Bucharest the week before.

And Klose s die Mannschaft team-mate Tim Borowski scored his third goal in two games on 69 minutes to put the holders in the third round.

Nuremberg, who were relegated to the Bundesliga s second division last season, rarely troubled the Bayern defence as the home side picked up a confidence booster after their 5-2 mauling by Werder Bremen last weekend.

Arteta praises Martinelli´s mentality for putting penalty miss behind him

Mikel Arteta praised the mentality of Gabriel Martinelli for putting his penalty miss against Sporting CP behind him with his display in Arsenal s 4-1 win over Crystal Palace.

Martinelli s saved spot-kick proved decisive in Arsenal s Europa League last-16 shoot-out defeat to Sporting on Thursday, with Nuno Santos stepping up to eliminate Arteta s men.

The Brazil international was named in Arsenal s starting line-up to face Palace on Sunday and opened the scoring in a routine victory as the Gunners returned to winning ways.

Arteta revealed after the game that he deliberated over whether to include Martinelli from the beginning, but his decision to do so more than paid off.

The reaction he had after missing the penalty There s always the question, Arteta t…

Wenger accepts Arsenal have gone backwards

Arsene Wenger has conceded Arsenal have gone backwards this season.

Arsenal have endured a miserable week, losing 3-0 to Manchester City in consecutive meetings in the EFL Cup final and Premier League.

The pressure on Wenger s position as manager has intensified as a result and a failure to beat Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday will cast further doubt on his future, with the Gunners 13 points adrift of fourth-place Tottenham in the table.

Given his team finished 2016-17 with an FA Cup triumph and 75 points in the top flight, Wenger accepts there has been a regression.

Yes, it is worse than last season because last year we won the cup and made 75 points, he said.

I don t deny that. We analyse that at the end of the season and don t worry.
